WeedCast was designed to provide estimates with a minimal set of user inputs: daily minimum and maximum air temperature, daily precipitation, general soil type, previous crop, tillage system, and a broad initial soil moisture category. Current emergence and growth estimates can be obtained by entering actual weather, while forecasted emergence and growth estimates can be obtained by entering forecasted weather. WeedCast version 2.0 improves the usability of WeedCast version 1.0, allowing users the flexibility to compare emergence and growth of several weed species simultaneously, customize graph output, and perform calculations using both metric and U.S. standard units. WeedCast version 2.0 equations have also been updated to reflect our most current understandings of weed biology. |
