Technical Abstract: Soybean cyst nematode (SCN) is the most serious pest of soybean in Illinois and causes an estimated annual production loss of $20 million. This proceedings discusses the current knowledge of soybean cyst nematode races, including distribution in Illinois and identification. The paper also discusses use of newer resistant varieties to control the nematode and how to increase longevity of resistance and to maximize profit to th soybean farmer.
