Phosphorus and agriculture vi: identifying soil p thresholds for the new york p index. New York State Cooperative Extension Bulletin. 11(1):4-5. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: The loss of phosphorus from agricultural lands and its subsequent transfer to surface waters has focused attention on agricultural phosphorus management. New York is currently developing a Phosphorus Index to assist in nutrient management decisions on agricultural fields. This sixth article on phosphorus and agriculture describes the use of soil chemical data to quantify the potential for phosphorus loss from soil to water. Using such an approach, ARS and Cornell University are analyzing soils from across New York State to develop soil-specific P relationships for the New York Phosphorus Index. |
