It has been the subject of many articles since the late 1800s. This paper reviewed the literature on the taxonomy, biology, ecology, morphology, host range, habitats, geographic range, economic importance, dispersal, natural enemies, and control of this important economic pest. One hundred and ninety eight published articles were reviewed in this paper. Technical Abstract: The pickleworm, Diaphania nitidalis (Stoll), is one of the most destructive pests of cucurbits in the Western Hemisphere. It is often the number one production problem for growers of pickling cucumbers in the mid-Atlantic states. The pickleworm has been the subject of many articles since the late 1800s. This paper reviewed the literature on the taxonomy, biology, ecology, morphology, host range, habitats, geographic range, economic importance, dispersal, natural enemies, and control of this important economic pest. One hundred and ninety eight published articles were reviewed in this paper. |
