Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Cooperative Regional Performance Nursery data are presented and summarized for entries in the 2000 Uniform Early Oat Performance Nursery. The entries included 23 experimental lines from 6 public oat breeding programs plus 5 long-term check cultivars. The nursery was grown at 13 locations in 11 States. Evaluation of performance of elite lines across the wide range of environments aids the cooperators to identify potential cultivar releases and germplasm for use in new crosses. The nursery mean yield of 88.8 bu/A for 2000 was up 8.7% from the 83.2 bu/A nursery mean yield in 1999. Multiple location data are presented for seed quality and oil contents; for several disease reactions including rusts, smut, and barley yellow dwarf virus; and for various agronomic traits including yield, maturity date, and lodging resistance. The data from the Nursery have been added to the Graingenes web site. Currently posted are summary tables for all traits and dlocation data for yield, test weight, and disease reactions.
