Technical Abstract: This article summarizes the major factors that influence the postharvest quality and storage of celery. It provides guidelines on how to maintain quality and storage stability by optimizing postharvest handling, storage, and shipping and distribution conditions. Specific recommendations include optimum harvest maturity, cold storage with high relative humidity. In addition, this article also detailed the physiological disorders that celery unusually develop during storage, and the practices that may minimize those disorders.
