Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Reactions conducted in pressurized fluid media, i.e., supercritical fluids, have several distinct advantages in terms of speed, selectivity, and product quality. Utilizing high pressurized CO2, GRAS solvents, (Generally Regarded as Safe) or hot pressurized water also allows compliance with environmental and worker safety regulations. Reactions in such media can be conveniently combined with extraction or fractionation steps, and utilized in both processing and analytical chemistry applications.
