Compatible interactions result in dramatic visible and physiological changes whereby the plant provides an ideal environment for larval growth and development. Both interaction types are characterized by systemic up and down regulation of specific genes. Response time for certain genes appears rapid and in concert with other genes. Some of these genes share sequence homology with defense-related genes from other organisms, whereas others have little in common with other database sequences. Sequence similarity and expression profiles will be discussed. |
