Interpretive Summary: To provide relevant information on the geological setting of Canadian County, Oklahoma for water resource scientists, a compilation of geological information as it relates to geohydrology and groundwater resources is done. The primary objective of this report is to provide geologic resource to support hydrologic research activities on and near the Grazinglands Research Laboratory, located in Canadian County, Oklahoma Source materials from the U.S. Geological Survey, the Oklahoma Water Resources Board, and Oklahoma Geological Survey, in the form of maps and reports, were gathered, collated and summarized. This report provides basic information needed to study the impacts of livestock production and management, forage management, and the influence of climate variability on ground water resources.

Technical Abstract: An overview of the geological setting of Canadian County, Oklahoma as it pertains to geohydrology and groundwater resources was done to provide geologic and hydrologic resource materials for USDA research scientists of the Grazinglands Research, located in Canadian County, Oklahoma. Basic information, provided by U.S. Geological Survey, the Oklahoma Water Resource Board, and Oklahoma Geological Survey, including physiographic setting, aquifer type and lithologic description, geologic history, and stratigraphy were gathered, collated and summarized. Information from this report can be utilized for future research planning, which deals with livestock production, forage management, water resources, and the influence of weather and climate on water resources.
