PROGRESS IN CONSTRUCTING LINKAGE MAP OF WATERMELON. HORTSCIENCE. 2002. v.37.p.753 Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: A linkage map derived from a testcross population [Plant Accession Griffin 14113 (Citrullus C. lanatus var. citroides) x New Hampshire Midget (NHM; C. lanatus var. lanatus)] x U.S. Plant Introduction (PI) 386015 (C. colocynthis) was constructed. The map consists of 25 linkage groups covering a total distance of 1166.2 cM, and with an average distance of 8.1 1cM between two markers. The map contains 141 randomly amplified polymorphi DNA (RAPD) markers and 27 inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers. Sequence characterized amplified region (SCAR) markers are being developed using RAPD and ISSR markers from each linkage group in this map. These SCAR markers will be used to integrate this map with additional maps constructed for watermelon, and for mapping of markers linked to disease and pest resistance. |
