Technical Abstract: True morels classified in the genus Morchella are among the most highly prized and widely collected macrofungi by mycophiles. In order to infer their phylogeny, biogeography and the evolution of reproductive mode, multigene genealogies were constructed to investigate species limits within this systematically challenging genus.
