This insect feeds on a variety of ornamental and crop plants, some of which are susceptible to the bacterium, Xylella fastidiosa. Management of this pest will require a robust sampling plan for estimating population densities, as well as a better understanding of the factors that influence its dispersal and subsequent spread of Pierce's disease (PD). |
