Interpretive Summary: Four new black currant cultivars are described for List 41 of the register of new fruit and nut varieties,. Two of these cultivars were developed in Scotland and two in Poland. The Scottish cultivars included Ribes nigrum 'Ben Gairn," an early ripening, reversion-resistant clone, and 'Ben Hope,' a gall mite-resistant clone. The gall mite (Cecidophyopsis ribis) and black currant reversion virus are economic pests in Europe but are not present in the United States. The two new Polish clones, 'Tiben' and 'Tisel' have high nutraceutical content and are appropriate for commercial productioin.
