SUSCEPTIBILITY TO GLYPHOSATE OF WEED ESCAPES IN GLYPHOSATE-TOLERANT SOYBEAN. NORTH CENTRAL WEED SCIENCE SOCIETY. 2002. v. 57: ABSTRACT P. 127. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: Plots of glyphosate-tolerant soybeans at twelve locations in five states were monitored for weed escapes. Seeds were collected from each of these sites in the glyphosate and non-treated weedy check plots. These seeds were planted and grown in a greenhouse and then sprayed one time with 10% of a standard rate application of glyphosate at two different stages of their development. Seedlings were monitored for differences in mortality; height; canopy length, width, and area; leaves; and dry weight. Lambsquarters was found as an escape more often than other species. No difference between populations was the most frequent observation. However, the few differences that were detected, for some traits in some species, suggest that prior exposure to glyphosate may affect the ability of some populations to escape glyphosate. These differences were observed more often in lambsquarters than other species. |
