Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Sclerotinia blight, caused by the fungus Sclerotinia minor, is a major disease of peanut in Oklahoma, Texas, North Carolina, and Virginia. The disease causes reduction in yield and quality of peanut, as well as increasing production costs. Therefore, our main interest and research goal is to enhance Sclerotinia blight disease resistance in peanut cultivars for sustaining a profitable peanut production in the Southwest. This paper reports on the release of OLin, a Sclerotinia-resistant Spanish-type peanut cultivar with better quality oil for a longer shelf life.
