Complete Book. Interpretive Summary: Not required for a book. Technical Abstract: This manual is designed as a reference source to therapy-related nutritional facts that are difficult to find gathered together in one place. The presentation is designed for such healthcare workers as physicians, nurses, and dietitians in various disciplines and for students at all levels in each of the disciplines. It is assumed that the healthcare worker has some knowledge of the underlying disease processes that might be benefited by nutritional intervention and of the uses to which the information can be applied. This fourth edition, like its predecessors, is not meant as a general textbook of disease diagnosis or treatment. Although the focus of the book remains management of nutritional problems in adult patients, much of the information is applicable to adolescents and older children. As before, the information offered is meant to be practical, without being a cookbook for managing patients. Explanations for the recommendations are provided as fully as space has allowed. |
