Interpretive Summary: The passing of Dr. Richard C. Froeschner on May 2, 2002 brings to a close the long career of an eminent scientist devoted to entomology and helping others. Dr. Froeschner's contributions are numerous, including nearly 20 years devoted to university teaching, but most important is his taxonomic research on Heteroptera, or true bugs. This paper provides a biographical sketch outlining his educational background, interests, and entomological career; a list of the new subfamilies, genera, and species of true bugs he described; and a list of his publications. This will be of use to all scientists involved in research on true bugs.
