Interpretive Summary: Six semidwarf mutants were induced in tall U.S. long grain varieties. Each mutant line carries a gene different from the worldwide semidwarfing source sd1. These mutants provide breeding sources of semidwarfism in tropical japonica germplasm adapted to the southern U.S. and similar climatic areas.
