Characterization of twenty four microsatellite markers for rainbow trout (oncorhynchus mykiss). Molecular Ecology Notes. 3(4):619-622. Interpretive Summary: Efforts to use molecular technologies in the genetic improvement of agricultural species have recently included the genetic mapping of rainbow trout. This report gives details on 24 new genetic markers developed for mapping in rainbow trout. This is the ninth set of markers from the marker development phase of our mapping project. Technical Abstract: Twenty four new polymorphic microsatellite markers were developed for QTL mapping and population genetics studies in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). The amount of polymorphism, percent heterozygosity, and the ability of each marker to amplify genomic DNA from other salmonids were recorded. |
