Crop Science. 44:1022-1023. Interpretive Summary: 'York' flax was developed and tested cooperatively by the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station and the USDA-ARS and was released in March, 2002. York is a blue-flowered, brown-seeded F5 derived selection advanced by pedigree selection from the cross U23/CI2929//McGregor made in 1988. Parent U23 was a selection from the USDA-ARS program grown in pre-regional trials. York was one of the highest yielding cultivars in 1997 and 1999 trials when compared to the cultivar Rahab94. York has good oil content and oil quality as measured by Iodine Number. York is resistant to all known North American races of flax rust. York is adapted to the north-central flax growing region of the U.S. Seed classes are breeder, foundation, registered, and certified.
