Interpretive Summary: A review is presented of the book Plant Physiology: Characteristics, Breeding and Genetics (Dris & Barry-Ryan) which was created from 26 papers presented at a workshop held in 2002 and had the stated focus of examining "factors affecting physiological changes occurring during the growth and development of plants and the application to crop breeding." Although the papers were peer-reviewed, the quality was generally far below what one expects in published material. A redeeming feature is that many papers were from authors located in countries that are seldom represented in English-language publications. The suggestion is made that this type of publication is better presented through a web site.

Technical Abstract: None required.
