Interpretive Summary: Researchers from USDA Agricultural Research Service Biotechnology and Germplasm Laboratory (BGL) have pioneered the application of a new technique called Serial Analysis of Gene Expression, or SAGE, to identify genes that are differentially expressed during the critical stages of early embryonic development. The SAGE technique enables researchers to capture a gene expression profile ' or snapshot ' of gene activity at specific stages of embryo development.
