Registration of 'beefmaker' intermediate wheatgrass. Crop Science.45:414-415. Interpretive Summary: Beefmaker intermediate wheatgrass is a broadly adapted cultivar that produces forage with high in vitro dry matter digestibility and high protein concentration in the tall, mid-grass and short-grass eco-regions of the Central Great Plains, USA. It was released in January 2002 by the USDA, Agricultural Research Service and the Agricultural Research Division, Institute of Agricultural and Natural Resources, University of Nebraska. It is recommended as a pasture forage for yearling beef cattle because its high forage quality should enhance animal gains.
