Characteristics of gene silencing in agrobacteria infused tobacco leaves[abstract]. American Society of Plant Biologists Annual Meeting. Paper No. 827. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: A highly sensitive luciferase-based transient assay, combined with viral suppressors of silencing, have been used to examine factors influencing the induction and level of post transcriptional gene silencing (PTGS) within leaves of Nicotiana tobacum infused with Agrobacteria. The timing of PTGS development, as well as the influence on silencing of promoter strength, reporter coding region, and various environmental factors have been determined and compared with published findings in the alternative model plant, Nicotiana benthemiana. |
