Interpretive Summary: This internationally coordinated study compiled the descriptions of newly described ascomycete fungi and then provided an analysis of the new species and their placement in the taxonomic hierarchy. This analysis directs those working with fungi to information on new species and their relationships with known species.

Technical Abstract: The present paper presents 288 notes on the taxonomy and nomenclature of ascomycetes (Ascomycota) at the generic and higher levels.
