A physical map of expressed sequence tags and functional genomics in the group i chromosomes of wheat, triticum aestivum. In: Proceedings of the Wheat Genetics International Symposium, September 1-6, 2003, Paestum, Italy. p.1035-1037. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: A total of 2,216 expressed sequence tag (EST) loci derived from 964 EST probes were mapped to group 1 chromosomes of wheat. The number of mapped EST loci among chromosomes 1A, 1B, and 1D was significantly different with 660, 826, and 726, respectively. The number of EST loci on the long arm significantly outnumbered that on the short arm for all the three chromosomes. The distribution of ESTs along the chromosome was non-random. The EST loci were clustered in the distal regions and had lower density in the proximal regions. A small number of specific ESTs were identified for each chromosome. An EST physical map and consensus map of group 1 chromosomes was presented to show EST distribution and chromosome-specific ESTs. Most of the group 1 ESTs had significant similarity with rice ESTs, especially those in rice chromosomes 5 and 10. |
