Field-scale mapping of soil properties using hyperspectral/multispectral aerial imagery. Agronomy Abstracts. 2004 CDROM. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: The objective of this study was to explore the relationship between bare soil reflectance (414-920 nm) and surface soil texture (sand, silt, clay), organic matter, and soil moisture. Two hundred and nine soil samples were collected at 91-m grid nodes from a 162 ha field. The dominant soil series of the field are Commerce, Robinsonville, and Souva. Aerial images were collected with a digital camera system with a 2-m spatial resolution. A stepwise algorithm was used to reduce the dimensionality of the data set. The resultant stepwise linear equations were used to create surface maps of soil texture, organic matter, and surface soil moisture. |
