Sixty-seven new equine microsatellite loci assigned to the radiation hybrid map. Animal Genetics 35:484-486. Interpretive Summary: Much work is being performed on determining regions of the horse genome that affect Quantitative Trait Loci/ These efforts have been hampered by the limited number of informative genetics markers available. This report describes the mapping of 67 equine microsatellite markers to the horse radiation hybrid map. These markers will provide a resource for determining regions of the horse genome where Quantitative Trait Loci reside. Technical Abstract: Considerable effort is now being put into mapping Quantitative Trait Loci in horses. When a QTL region has been identified the next step is to fine map the region and narrow the chromosomal location harboring the QTL. One of the limiting factors to this approach has been lack of informative genetic markers. The genetic markers of choice are called microsatellites. This paper reports the radiation hybrid mapping of 67 new equine microsatellites. |
