Microsatellite markers for vaccinium from est and genomic libraries. Molecular Ecology Notes. 5:657-660. Interpretive Summary: The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) - Agricultural Research Service (ARS) - National Clonal Germplasm Repository (NCGR) in Corvallis, Oregon, preserves more than 1156 types of blueberries. This study is part of an ongoing effort by the NCGR to develop molecular techniques that can be used to identify different types of blueberry. We present the sequence of 30 DNA segments that were developed and observed to identify differences in different blueberry types. These segments will be used to verify the identity of blueberry varieties in the NCGR collection and to develop characteristic 'fingerprints' for each type. Technical Abstract: We present 30 microsatellite loci isolated from EST and genomic libraries in Vaccinium corymbosum L. The PCR primers were tested for polymorphism in twelve Vaccinium genotypes and for amplification in twelve Vaccinium species. |
