CNRG table set 1.1: Pyramid servings intakes in the United States, 1994-96, 1998, 2 days. World Wide Web. http://www.ba.ars.usda.gov/cnrg. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: These summary intake tables present national estimates of food intakes expressed as numbers of servings from food groups defined by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Guide Pyramid. These estimates are based on 2 non-consecutive days of food intakes collected using the 24 hour recall method from 18,071 individuals 2 years of age and over from USDA’s 1994-96, 1998 Continuing Surveys of Food Intakes by Individuals (CSFII) and servings data from the Pyramid Servings Database for USDA Survey Food Codes Version 2.0 (PyrServDB_v2). The servings data were determined using a new method for computing lean meat, discretionary fat, and added sugars. These summary tables report mean numbers of Pyramid servings and percentages of individuals consuming specified numbers of servings from the five major Pyramid groups (grains, vegetables, fruits, meats, and dairy) and selected subgroups as well as fats, added sugars, and alcohol (30 groups in all). The data are tabulated in two ways: for children 2 through 9 years of age in 19 sex-age groups, and for all individuals 2 years of age and over in 20 sex-age groups. These tables update those previously released in CNRG Table Set 1.0. |
