Registration of c842 and c842cms sugarbeet germplasms with resistance to curly top. Crop Science. 45:2665-2666. DOI:10.2135/cropsci2005.008 Interpretive Summary: This is a germplasm registration; no interpretive summary required. Technical Abstract: Curly top (CT) virus continues to cause problems and economic losses to the sugarbeet industry. Host-plant resistance is the most effective and economical means of control. Germplasm line C842 and its cytoplasmic-male-sterile counterpart, C842CMS, combine moderately high levels of resistance to CT with resistance to rhizomania in a monogerm, O-type background. C842 was developed and released to retain and recombine known sources of resistance to CT in a population structure that will readily allow development of CT resistant parental lines for commercial hybrids. |
