Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Fatty acid desaturases are subdivided into two families. The first family comprises the Stearoyl-CoA desaturases (SCD), while the second family is comprised of the Stearoyl-Acyl Carrier proteins. Amino acid sequences, conserved functional motifs, and in silico analyses phylogenetic analyses delineate the delta-9 desaturases 1 within the Hemiptera into distinct clades with specific catalytic functions. Herein we compare the desaturases between important insect pests of plant diseases which includes: leafhoppers, aphids, and mealybugs.
