Interpretive Summary: A field study was conducted at Stoneville, MS during 2004 to compare the effects of selected combinations of harvest-aid chemicals on cotton. Combinations of Def 6 and selected adjuvants were applied to cotton var. ‘Delta Pine BR 451’ at 60 to 65% open bolls. Treatments included combinations of Def 6 and Ethephon 6; Def 6, Ethephon 6 and Dropp SC; Def 6 and Finish 6; and Def 6 and MFX 0307. Visual ratings were determined on the percent defoliation and boll opening at 9 and 14 days after treatment (DAT) and shoot regrowth at 21 DAT. The combinations of Def 6, Ethephon 6 and Dropp SC; Def 6 and Finish 6; and Def 6 and MFX 0307 each resulted in greater percent defoliation, percent open bolls and less percent shoot regrowth than the standard application mixture of Def 6 and Ethephon 6. The standard treatment resulted in 75 to 81% defoliation and 75 to 83% open bolls, respectively at 9 and 14 DAT. Percent defoliation and open bolls were increased to 96 and 97% respectively at 9 and 14 DAT with other treatment combinations. Shoot regrowth for the standard treatment was 54% at 21 DAT and was reduced to 19% with the combination of Def 6, Ethephon 6, and Dropp SC.
