Interpretive Summary: The new containment facility at the USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Invasive Plant Research Laboratory in Davie, FL has been completed and is operational. The new building is devoted to research on biological control of invasive plants and contains office space, laboratories, and state-of –the-art quarantine and maximum quarantine space. To celebrate, a dedication ceremony and open house were held at the new facility on April 8, 2005. Almost two hundred people attended. Speakers included officials from the USDA-ARS, US Army Corps of Engineers, US Department of Interior and South Florida Water Management District. These are the principle agencies responsible for the building’s design and construction. Congressman Clay Shaw, Jr. gave the keynote address.
