Interpretive Summary: Fungi in dryland habitats produce their fruiting bodies only occasionally when conditions are just right and thus their geographic distribution is not well known. A rare stalked puffball was discovered for the first time in Puerto Rico. Based on this specimen that is deposited in the U.S. National Fungus Collections, this fungal species is described and illustrated. This research provides increased knowledge of the biological diversity of fungi in Puerto Rico as well as a means for the identification of this unusual species.

Technical Abstract: The euagaric Montagnea radiosa (Basidiomycota) is reported from a dry region of southwestern Puerto Rico. This is a new record for Puerto Rico, and only the second record of this fungus in the Caribbean. The Puerto Rican material is completely described and illustrated, and a brief taxonomic discussion provided.
