Interpretive Summary: This report identifies multi-year variations in annual precipitation and air temperature in regions of Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas. Persistent, multi-year variations in annual precipitation can have significant implications for agriculture and water resources management. Research is being conducted at the ARS Grazinglands Research Laboratory to identify long-lasting precipitation and air temperature variations and to assess their impact on agricultural productivity and water resources availability. Recognition and consideration of persistent climate variations can assist with the selection of agronomic practices, enterprise planning, and water resources management that benefit from positive aspects of climate variations and mitigate negative impacts of climate variations. This report lets readers see the size and duration of past climate variations in their region. The report is also available on a web site, and can be accessed interactively to directly view the climate variations for the State and region of interest.
