Interpretive Summary: These results are used by wheat breeders in the eastern winter wheat growing regions of the U.S. to determine the adaptability of the best experimental lines for possible release and production. Technical Abstract: The purpose of the Uniform Bread Wheat Trial (UBWT) is to evaluate winter wheat advanced lines having bread wheat (hard) grain quality for adaptation to those areas in the United States where hard winter wheats could possibly be grown. The entries in the 2004-05 UBWT were developed by the USDA/ARS wheat breeding/pathology program located in Raleigh, NC. A total of 36 entries were included in the trial. There were eleven testing locations, with one in Sussex, DE, Plains, GA, Clarksville, MD, and Landisville, PA; two in Kentucky (Lexington and Logan) and Virginia (Blacksburg and Warsaw), and three in North Carolina (Kinston, Salisbury, and Laurel Springs). |
