American Mosquito Control Association. Interpretive Summary: None. Technical Abstract: Research has been conducted during the past three years on the efficacy of propane powered traps to manage salt marsh mosquitoes on Atsena Otie, an isolated island in the Gulf of Mexico, located near Cedar Key, FL, USA. The target species has been Ochlerotatus taeniorhynchus. Twenty-one Mosquito Magnet Pros were operated 24/7. Populations were significantly reduced on the island to the level that for most of the time after the traps were functional not even repellent was needed. Rainfall patterns did have an important influence on the mosquito pressure. |
