Midwest Food Processors Association Processing Crops Conference. Paper No. 11. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: Weed management systems aim to address specific pest problems within a crop, however, almost no detailed information exists on the scope of the weed problem in sweet corn, nor how the crop is affected by weed interference. Research was reported on: 1) an approach and preliminary results from weed surveys conducted in production fields, and 2) results from controlled field studies that have quantified functional relationships between weed interference and sweet corn yield and ear traits. Knowledge gained from this research is anticipated to provide a context to the problem of weeds in sweet corn and establish a benchmark for measuring future improvements. |
