Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: As the need for biorenewable fuels increases, the ethanol industry in the U.S. continues to thrive and grow. The same is true here in South Dakota as well. In fact, South Dakota has been a leader in ethanol production for years, and will continue to be for years to come. This industry is making a tremendous impact on the economy of our state. According to the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council (www.sdcorn.org), the ethanol industry generates approximately 10 cents in the state’s economy for every dollar of ethanol produced, which translates into a total of over $300 million of wealth created in the state annually. South Dakotans should be aware of the current state of the industry. South Dakota is poised for even more growth in the ethanol industry in the next several years. And it will continue to be a national leader in biofuels and other sources of renewable energy for years to come.
