Description of immature stages of Eurytoma sivinskii Gates and Grissell (Hymenoptera: Eurytomidae), an ectoparasitoid of Anastrepha (Diptera: Tephritidae) pupae. Entomological News. 119:354-359. Interpretive Summary: Fruit flies are one of the most economically important crop pests in Central and South America where they infest many economically grown tropical fruits. In this paper we describe the immature stages of a parasitic wasp discovered in Mexico that has a beneficial impact for biocontrol of pestiferous fruit flies. This information will be useful to scientists and growers involved in the biocontrol of fruit flies in the Neotropics. Technical Abstract: We describe and illustrate for the first time the egg, larva and pupa of Eurytoma sivinskii Gates and Grissell (Hymenoptera: Eurytomidae), a parasitoid that attacks Anastrepha obliqua (Macquart) pupae in Veracruz, Mexico. Using lab-reared A. ludens (Loew) pupae as hosts, we obtained all immature stages of E. sivinskii for descriptive purposes. |
