Interpretive Summary: The caterpillar-like larvae of sawflies cause millions of dollars of damage each year to agricultural crops, forests, and ornamental plants. The sawfly composition of the national parks in the United States has never been studied. In conjunction with insect collections in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, 230 species of sawflies were found. These species are listed wih their collection localities in the park, number of specimens collected, dates and altitudes of occurrence, and recorded host plants. This will be of use to scientists studying plant-feeding insects and their host associations and to National Park Service personnel.

Technical Abstract: As a contribution to the All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, a list of the 230 species of sawfies in 10 families collected in the park are presented. Localities in the park, numbers of specimens, inclusive dates of collection, inclusive altitudes, and host plants for each species are given.
