Interpretive Summary: During a trip to Guatemala in 2004, Culex limacifer and Culex dunni were collected. This was the first time these two species had been identified in Guatemala. They were collected as larvae and raised individually to adults, with the larval and pupal skins being preserved after each molt. These skins along with the adult male genitalia were used to positively identify the specimen.

Technical Abstract: Larvae of Culex (Melanoconion) limacifer Komp and Culex (Melanoconion) dunni Dyar were collected during June 2004 in Guatemala. All specimens were individually reared to the adult stage. Specimens were identified based upon examination of the male genitalia and characters of the associated larval and pupal exuviae. These are the first records of these two species in Guatemala.
