Expressed Sequence Tags From Adult Female Lygus lineolaris (Palisot de Beauvois) (Heteroptera: Miridae).. Genbank. EX515192 through EX515308. Interpretive Summary: The tarnished plant bug, Lygus lineolaris, is an important pest of many crops, including cotton. Plant bug feeding can result in death of young leaves, squares, and flowers, and thus reduced yield. Gene sequences were collected from adult female tarnished plant bugs and were filed in the public data repository, GenBank. This information will provide scientist with genetic tools to study populations of plant bugs and target genes associated with reproduction and egg development for disruption. Technical Abstract: Few gene sequences have been isolated from the tarnished plant bug, Lygus lineolaris, an important pest of many crops including cotton. This lack of data limits the study of important functions such as feeding, digestion, development, and reproduction. Gene expression studies can provide specific information to facilitate these functional studies, and provide genetic markers for identification and monitoring studies. 118 gene sequences were collected from adult female tarnished plant bugs and were filed in the public data repository, GenBank. This information will provide scientist with genetic tools to study populations of plant bugs and target genes associated with reproduction and egg development for disruption. |
