Interpretive Summary: Descriptions of four newly released black currant cultivars are presented. Three of the cultivars are from Scotland: Ben Dorain, Ben Avon, and Big Ben. The fourth, Cancanska Crna, is from Yugoslavia . Each of these black currants have high vitamin C and other antioxidant compounds. Big Ben was released for back yard gardeners because the fruit is very large. The other three cultivars can be mechanically harvested and are of interest to commercial black currant growers.
