Interpretive Summary: This registration article describes the unique traits of seven newly released RWA-resistant barley germplasm lines. This will facilitate the use of these lines by barley breeders world wide.

Technical Abstract: STARS 0637B (Reg. No. _________, PI 642923), 0638B (Reg. No. __________, PI 642924), 0639B (Reg. No. __________, PI 642925), 0640B (Reg. No. __________, PI 642926), 0641B (Reg. No. __________, PI 642927), 0642B (Reg. No. __________, PI 642928), and STARS 0643B (Reg. No. __________, PI 642929), are spring, two-rowed barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) lines developed cooperatively by the USDA-ARS, in Stillwater, OK and Aberdeen, ID as sources of resistance to Russian wheat aphid (RWA) [Diuraphis noxia, (Mordvilko)]. Each line has resistance in one of three, two-rowed, feed barley cultivar backgrounds. These lines are competitive with their recurrent parents both in the absence and presence of RWA.
