Evaluation of accelerated aolvent extractor (ASE 350) on assay of fats from food products. Pittcon 2008, March 1, 2008, New Orleans, LA. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: Extraction of analytes of interest from solid and semisolid samples using liquid solvents is a common practice for most assay procedures. A systematic evaluation of the newly developed accelerated solvent system (ASE 350) for the estimation of fat from different food products (salad dressing, mayonnaise, infant formula, milk powder, egg powder) with and without acid hydrolysis was performed using regular stainless steel and the acid resistant Dionium cells. The results revealed that the amount of fat extracted from the AOCS proficiency samples using the new ASE 350 were similar to those reported by the AOCS Lab proficiency program. |
