Effect of adjuvant physical properties on spray characteristics. ASABE Annual International Meeting. Paper No. 08-4174. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: The effects of adjuvant physical properties on spray characteristics were studied. Dynamic surface tension was measured with a Sensa Dyne surface tensiometer 6000 using the maximum bubble pressure method. Viscosity was measured with a Brookfield synchro-lectric viscometer model LVT using a UL adapter 0.1-100 cps range. The pH/conductivity was measured with an AP85 Portable Waterproof pH/conductivity meter. Adjuvant array was the highest conductivity, which indicates it has good potential for the electrostatics nozzle application. It also has highest shear viscosity value. All the adjuvants have a very similar neutral pH value (7.00 to 7.55) and specific gravity (0.987 to 0.998). In-Place has the highest dynamic surface tension (43.4 dyne per sq. cm) and Vector has the lowest one (37.5 dyne per sq. cm). The adjuvant physical properties have great influence on spray characteristics. |
