Antigenic cartographic analysis of H7 avian influenza viruses with chicken serum [abstract]. 7th International Symposium on Avian Influenza, April 5-8, 2009, Athens, Georgia. p. 24. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: Antigenic cartography is a relatively new method that can be used to evaluate the antigenic relatedness among avian influenza virus isolates. Evaluation of antigenic relationships among avian influenza viruses can be applied to vaccine design and to understanding the evolution of the virus. Initial amino acid sequence and antigenic cartographic analysis of closely related H7 viruses from Pakistan where H7 vaccines have been used routinely may help to reveal amino acids which are important for antigenic groupings. Additional H7 viruses from wild birds and poultry that were initially selected because of gene sequence diversity are also included in the antigenic cartographic analysis to present a more comprehensive view of the antigenic relatedness among H7 avian influenza viruses. |
