CMap 1.01: a comparative mapping application for the internet. Bioinformatics. 25(22):3040-3042. Interpretive Summary: CMap is a web-based program for viewing genetic and genomic maps such as chromosomes and linkage groups. It is unique among programs like it in that it allows the user to compare as many maps as they wish that are of any type or from any species. This paper briefly describes the various ways CMap can be used to find features or maps of interest to a user and compare those to other maps and describes why this would be a useful endeavor. Technical Abstract: CMap is a web-based tool for displaying and comparing maps of any type and from any species. A user can compare an unlimited number of maps, view pair-wise comparisons of known correspondences, and search for maps or for features by name, species, type and accession. CMap is freely available, can run on a variety of database engines, and uses only free and open software components. |
